At the media conference for Call Me PAPi, which LionhearTV covered on November 20, Filipino film director Alvin Yapan praised Albie Casiño’s acting and adlib skills.
Yapan recounted the challenges he encountered writing a script for an ensemble cast.
He said, “May isa kasing eksena kasi dito si Albie, kasi ensemble kasi. Kapag magsusulat ka ng script, sa isang ensemble, ang hirap bigyan ng dialogue ang bawat isa. Parang good luck doon, tapos ‘yung eksena pa dapat may banter. ‘Yung mabilis ‘yung palitan nila ng dialogue, na hindi mo mapapansin na naka-script ang lahat.”
He narrated how Casiño stepped up and collaborated with him to include additional dialogues for their scenes. He shared, “May isang eksena diyan na parang napansin ni Albie na, ‘Direk, parang wala po akong line dito sa sequence na ‘to.’ Sabi ko, ‘Oo nga.’
So they sat down and talked about how the actor should react in the scene, gave him key points, and he was impressed with how Casiño portrayed his character.
According to the director, “…ang husay, kasi noong ine-edit na namin ‘yung eksena, hindi ko na napansin at all ‘yung sinasabi niya ay hindi talaga naisulat sa talagang script.” He added, “At nakakatakot ‘yun sa isang director kasi pwedeng mag-adlib ‘yung actor niya ng kahit ano. What if pala, sirain ‘yung adlib na ‘yun ‘yung buong eksena. So kudos to Albie.”
Casiño felt flattered and happy with the praises he got from Yapan.
