On September 15, Actress-beauty queen Michelle Aldana admitted that she felt honored being the antagonist or Kontrabida to Jean Garcia’s character in Nakarehas na Puso.
At the media conference for Nakarehas na Puso, Aldana said she initially felt terrified of portraying a Kontrabida alongside Jean Garcia, who’s known for her antagonist roles.
“It’s an honor, it’s an honor na masasampal at masasabunutan ko si Miss Jean. Actually, it was really terrifying for me. ‘Yun ‘yung word jean ah, terrifying, kasi natakot ako. Hindi pa ako nakapagsampalan, the last time ata na nakipagsampalan ako was with Sharon Cuneta, and itong si Miss Jean Garcia. ay pinapapanood ko nga ‘yung ‘Lolong.’ At tsaka napanood ko siya dati as Claudia.”
However, she revealed that Garcia, alongside the cast and director Gil Tejada, supported her while taping the series.
“So may kaba pero as I said napaka-supportive talaga ni Jean. And sabi niya kasi, ‘Kasi, ganito ‘yan. Ganito ‘yung gagawin natin.’ Tinuruan niya ako, kung papaano hindi kami magkakasakitan, kung papaano namin madadaya sa camera or paano hindi–nandoon ‘yung physicality mo sa loob, pero makikita pa rin sa screen.
“So, I’m really, really grateful kasi talagang I feel I’m in safe hands, dito kay Jean, dito kay Direk Gil, si Leandro–nako, napaka-supportive din niyan. So, it’s an honor.”
She then narrated the first scene she did with Garcia, which was an intensely dramatic moment in the series.
“Kinukwento ko nga sa kanya, ‘Alam mo takot na takot ako noong first na ano natin, na scene.’ Tapos sabi niya, ‘Bakit ka naman natatakot?’ ‘Kasi, ang bigat agad.’ ‘Yung nakwento nga niya, ang bigat noong first scene namin na gabi, iyak siya, ako naman galit, hindi ako marunong ng ganong galit.”
She recounted how Tejada guided her through her first scene in Nakarehas na Puso.
“So natuto, kailangan talagang pag-aralan, natuto ako, and nagpapasalamat ako kasi ang galing talaga ng director namin. Bukod doon sa kinukwento niya ‘yung pinanggalingan– kinukwento niya ‘yung pinanggagalingan kaya nararamdaman mo talaga, kung ano ‘yung dapat na character mo at that point in time doon sa sitwasyon.”
Miss Asia Pacific 1993 Michelle Aldana worked on movies such as Mauna Ka Susunod Ako, Wala Nang Iibigan Pang Iba, and Segurista.
She then left the Philippines and showbiz in 1998 to live in Germany with her husband. Her family then moved to South Africa, which landed her acting roles in local TV shows.
Now, Aldana returns to her first acting project after more than twenty years.
Nakarehas na Puso stars Jean Garcia, Vaness Del Moral, Edgar Allan Guzman, Michelle Aldana, and Leandro Baldemor.
The cast includes Claire Castro, Glenda Garcia, Ashley Sarmiento, and Bryce Eusebio.
Nakarehas na Puso, directed by Gil Tejada, started airing this September 26 on GMA Afternoon Prime.
