GMA Network’s historical-fantasy series Maria Clarra at Ibarra didn’t disappoint as it scored a big win in TV ratings during its pilot week.
The Kapuso series debuted strong, rendering its rival program Darna almost powerless, according to a rating report by the Nielsen NUTAM People’s survey.
On its pilot episode on Monday, October 3, MCI beats Darna by 8% at 15.1% against 7.1%.

The Barbie Forteza-Dennis Trillo-Juli Anne San Jose-starrer series went up further on its second day, scored a 15.4% versus Darna‘s 6.4% on Tuesday, October 4.

On its third day, MCI‘s rating went down to 14.5% but still maintained a huge lead of 7% over Darna’s 7.5%.

And on its fourth day on October 6, the Kapuso historical-fantasy series went up again at 15.1% still beating Darna by 7.9% at 7.2%.

MCI was also warmly welcomed by the netizens with most of them praising the show for its spot-on cinematography, great execution, and boldness to tackle relevant social issues.
Meanwhile, the show’s stars Forteza and Trillo shared their gratitude to the viewers for their warm support for their series.
In an interview on 24 Oras‘s Chika Minute on October 5, Forteza shared her happiness that people appreciated her role in the series.
“Everything na mangyayari dun sa mundo ng Noli Me Tangere, through Klay’s eyes. [Ang goal] ko talaga [ay] maging as captivating, engaging si Klay.
“As an actor, it’s very fulfilling na na-appreciate ng mga tao ‘yung ginawa ko – ginawa namin,” she said.
Forteza plays the role of Klay, a Gen Z student who teleported to the time of Maria Clara and Crisostomo Ibarra.
On the other hand, Trillo, shared that he is very excited for the televiewers to see how MCI’s story will develop.
“Excited na rin ako na makita nila ‘yung eksena namin na ‘yun, kung paano kami magtatagpo, kung papaano kami magi-interact. ‘Yung galing sa present na makiki-interact dun sa mga tao sa past.
“Kung ano ‘yung sa tingin mo tama, ipaglalaban mo. Marami kayong makikitang mga eksenang ganun sa serye na ito.”
