Jolina Magdangal gets embarrassed when referred to as an icon. She tends to question herself if she deserves such a title.
On October 19, on a YouTube vlog, Camille Prats asked Magdangal about her experiences as a TV star and singer during the ’90s.
“Yung pagiging icon, kahit sinasabi sa akin minsan, nahihiya ako. Kasi parang feeling ko, ano ba ang basehan ng pagiging icon? At saka kapag sinabi mong icon, talagang tumatak ‘yan sa mga tao… Minsan, kapag sinasabihan ako ng icon, ‘Wag na. Nakakahiya sa mga totoong icon,” Magdangal pleaded.
“Hindi na natin matatanggal sa isip ng bawat Pilipino kung sino si Jolina Magdangal,” Prats stressed it out.
Magdangal revealed reasons why she lasted long run in the entertainment industry. She pointed that she loved what she’s doing and did not let herself get swayed by the negative things thrown at her.
Magdangal made a name in showbiz when she made it to Ang TV (1992).
In 1996, she was one of the lead stars of the TV series titled Gimik.
She became more famous when paired with Marvin Agustin in numerous movies, such as the classic rom-com titled Labs Kita… Okey Ka Lang in 1998.
