The Kapuso Network continuously solidifies its online strongholds by attracting more than 28 million subscribers on YouTube.
Already the undisputed number one TV network in the country, GMA Network is seemingly finding its way into staking its claim on dominance over another territory. Its official YouTube channel added a million more new subscribers, four months after hitting 27 million. That makes the GMA Network official YouTube channel, the second most subscribed in the country, just behind ABS-CBN Entertainment, which currently has 41 million subscribers. Total lifetime views of the GMA Network channel now stand at 26.8 billion.
GMA Network channel houses most of the entertainment content of the network. Full episodes of the past and current shows of the network are made available on the channel. Several movies produced by GMA Pictures, the network’s film production arm, are also available this year, some shows have started streaming live on the platform as the network makes its move to capture the swelling local online audience. ABS-CBN, its major rival notably has already established a formidable presence on YouTube via Kapamilya Online Live. Currently, primetime programs, Maria Clara at Ibarra, Start-Up PH, and What We Could Be, stream concurrently alongside their television broadcast, via Kapuso stream. The live viewers are yet to match its Kapamilya Online Live counterpart but it is worth noting that the numbers have been in steady progress.
Other than the GMA Network channel, several other Kapuso-operated channels maintain huge followings on the platform. GMA Public Affairs, which produces the network’s documentaries and other scripted entertainment shows, is currently the fourth most subscribed in the country with nearly 20 million subscribers. Its lifetime views also now total 12.3 billion the GMA Public Affairs notably produces some of the country’s multi-awarded documentary programs, including I-Witness and Reporter’s Notebook. Among the scripted contents produced by the Kapuso unit include the handsomely shot The Lost Recipe, Love You Stranger, and the recently-concluded Lolong.
GMA News channel ranks 12th in the country with 12.4 million subscribers and 10.8 billion lifetime views. The channel streams a live feed of the Network Tagalog newscast, 24 Oras, which is currently the number one rated program in the country.
