The former Kapamilya broadcaster shared on his Facebook page that he received a great blessing, which he will unveil on November 11.
Is he the newest endorser of the e-commerce brand, Shopee?
Given the orange background of the photo he posted, Taberna got many netizens curious about what possibly he was alluding to with his latest Facebook post. Many are intrigued by what he was trying to mean with the caption: “Maraming salamat sa panibagong biyaya. Abangan sa 11-11! (Thank you for the new blessing. Stay tuned until November 11).“
Commentators on his post are quick to assume that the blessing he was referring to must be the e-shopping app, Shopee, which got into hot water weeks ago, for choosing controversial TV host and vlogger Toni Gonzaga as a brand ambassador.
Many users warned the app management of them shifting to other e-commerce platforms, including Lazada and Tiktok.
There are, in fact, speculations that Shopee’s sales during the 10.10 super sale event, were disappointing. So given the criticisms and revenue slump, it faced last month, why would Shopee hire another personality who seems poised to generate the same effect as Gonzaga? Gonzaga and Taberna are both staunch Marcos supporters, which prompted many netizens to uninstall and boycott the app.
It can also be recalled Taberna was among several personalities who came to Gonzaga’s rescue, following the backlash she received for accepting the Shopee endorsement deal.
“Wala kayong kadala-dala… ‘yang boycott-boycott n’yo na ‘yan malaking kalokohan ‘yan. Marami nang Pilipino ang nabu-buwiset diyan sa boycott, boycott i-style n’yo na ‘yan. Hindi pa ba kayo nakaka-move on…
“(You guys just don’t know how to learn your lesson. That boycott campaign won’t get you anywhere. Many Filipinos despise such an idea. Why can’t you just move on?),” he shared in a post, criticizing Gonzaga and Shopee’s bashers.
Let’s see on November 11 if the netizens are right in their assumption that the seasoned broadcaster, is indeed Shopee’s newest endorser. If he is, will he generate the same effect as Gonzaga did, on the e-commerce app’s sales?
