Despite being busy with her duties as a Councilor of Quezon City, Aiko Melendez is happy to be back in show business.
When asked if this comeback will be the start of her continuous acting and TV appearance again, the actress shared that this comeback is a good start because she is one of the original Regal babies.
At the presser of Mano Po Legacy: The Flower Sisters on October 14 at Luxent Hotel, she said, “Siguro ito na rin ang pagbabalik kasi good timing, alam niyo, dun sa mga di po nakakaalam po, isa po ako sa mga original Regal baby po. Baby po ako ni Mother Lily, Kaya the mere fact na ang pangalan ko po dito ay Lily, nakakapressure po, although hindi po naman ganiyan ang ugali po ni Mother Lily, pero may mga eksena po na ginaya po namin si Mother Lily.”
Melendez shared about her time as one of the original Regal Babies under the supervision of the Mother of Showbiz, Lily Monteverde, Regal Entertainment’s very own founder.
She hopes that her TV appearances will be continuous again.
“Sana ito na ang hudyat na pagbabalik ko dahil naja-juggle ko naman yung time ko na pagiging konsehal ng Quezon City although nagkakasakit na, pero worth it naman. After seeing the trailer of Mano Po 3, I don’t have any regrets na tinanggap ko ang Mano Po 3.”
Melendez expressed her gratitude toward COO & vice president Roselle Monteverde and GMA Network first vice president for program management department Joey R. Abacan for choosing her to be part of the cast.
“Salamat sa pagkakataong ito dahil you made my comeback with a big bang! Salamat po.”
The actress was then asked how her and Beauty Gonzalez’s confrontation scenes are going, “Patikim pa lang po yun.”
She added that slapping scenes might be seen throughout the series.
“Sana lang po yung mga mas bata like si Thea at tsaka si Angel po di malakas sumampal kasi alam nyo naman po ako eh hindi talaga ako marunong manampal sa totoong buhay puro daya pero kidding aside, ito pong trailer is just a ‘patikim’.”
Melendez also expressed gratitude toward the three directors who work with them because not only did they manage to handle and guide her. Though she’s a seasoned actor and has been in the industry for quite some time, they also managed to take good care of each of the cast members.
“Maraming salamat sa mga directors namin dahil itong Mano Po 3, inalagaan nila lahat ng character at hindi ito show lang namin ni Beauty or ng Flower Sisters. Ito po ay show naming lahat at makikita nyo dito sa Mano Po 3, lahat po kami magsha-shine at dahil po yun sa ating mga directors at kay Miss Julie at syempre alam nyo naman, na pag si Direk Joey at Miss Lorraine ang nag collab – it’s a big bang! So maraming salamat po!:”
