The competition will be on January 15, 2023, in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
ABS-CBN will [once] again bring the biggest and most watched beauty pageant in the world, Miss Universe, on January 15, 2023.
The competition is the 71st edition of the prestigious beauty tilt will in New Orleans, United States. The previous edition, which ABS-CBN also aired on multiple platforms, was held in Eilat, Israel, on December 13 of last year.
ABS-CBN’s advisory came briefly after the Miss Universe organization announced a transition of ownership from the American holding company IMG (Endeavor) to its current owner JKN Global, led by Thai transgender billionaire Anne Jakkapong Jakrajutatip.
It will be the first time for a woman-led conglomerate (a transwoman, in this case) takes ownership of the seven-decade brand. Notable previous owners include Patrick Whitesell’s Endeavor and Donald Trump’s Trump Organization.
The current Miss Universe Philippines’ Celeste Cortesi will vie in the competition. The Filipina-Italian beauty will compete against at least 80 other entrants. Should she emerge victorious, she will be the country’s fifth title holder, after Gloria Diaz (1969), Margarita Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018). The least of her challenge is to make sure the Philippines makes it to ‘the top 20-placement-streak’ continue.
ABS-CBN announced the airing of the competition through its various platforms at partner entities.
The pageant will likely be seen on both A2Z and TV5, as it did last year. Also, ABS-CBN may likely stream it via Kapamilya Online Live and iWantTFC, although it remains a speculation.
