Vice Ganda is set to return to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and react to the ‘Queen of MMFF,’ a title blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina gave the comedian-host of It’s Showtime.
On September 9, at a short media conference, he downplayed the ‘queen of the festival’ title given to her by Garcia.
“Actually, ang mga tao lang naman ang name-mressure sa isa’t isa. Ako gusto ko lang naman gumawa ng pelikula palagi. Hindi siya pressure on me.
“Excited talaga eko to be Cathy-fied. I expect and I am willingly embracing yung may Cathyfication — the ‘Cathyfication’ of Vice Ganda this Christmas. Lahat naman kami may kanya-kanyang brands,” Vice said.
Directed by Garcia, Vice and Ivana Alawi will lead the MMFF entry titled Partners in Crime.
He already produced a total of nine MMFF movies, namely: Sisterakas (2012), Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy (2013), The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin (2014), Beauty and the Bestie (2015), The Super Parental Guardians (2016), Gandarrapido: The Revenger Squad (2017), Fantastica (2018), and The Mall, The Merrier (2019).
Each of her MMFF entries has earned at least P330 million at the box office.
Vice revealed that he has a new assignment this Christmas: to encourage families to go back to the cinemas.
“Hinahanap na rin kasi ng katawan ko, ng sistema ko. Dati ang assignment ko patawanin ‘yung mga pamilya ‘pag Pasko. Ngayon, ang assignment ko naman ay ‘yung pabalikin sila sa sinehan ngayong Pasko,” he said.
