Vice Ganda tells ‘Idol Philippines’ season 2 grand winner not to leave ABS-CBN too quicklyThe Unkabogable Phenomenal Box-Office Superstar gave his piece of advice to the season 2 grand winner during the talent-reality competition’s grand finals night on September 18.
Vice Ganda seemingly warned the new Idol Philippines winner to not leave ABS-CBN too quickly, after its first winner, moved to ABS-CBN’s rival network, GMA, after ABS-CBN lost its franchise in 2020.
“Sa hihiranging bagong Idol winner, sana maraming magbukas na opportunities sa’yo (To the next winner, I hope many opportunities will be opened for you after this win)”, he said when asked by host, Robi Domingo, what he could say to the next Idol Philippines winner, who then was yet to be announced. Khimo Gumatay from Makati City eventually got declared this season’s grand winner.
What surprised the viewers and the netizens, however, is when the It’s Showtime host said, “Sana mag-stay ka muna sa network na ito (I hope you stay for a while in this network),” which also made the Idol, judges chuckle in surprise. It can be recalled that Zephanie officially joined GMA Network, in March, this year.
Vice Ganda also notably sat as one of the judges of the first season, which Zephanie won.
Zephanie now performs on All-Out-Sundays, the Kapuso Network’s Sunday noontime musical variety show.
That said, and given Gumatay’s prizes, which include a recording and management contract, it looks like he may not be able to leave ABS-CBN too quickly as some may fear.
He is likely to showcase his talent first on ASAP Natin ‘To, and record songs under Star Music, which is set to handle his recording career.
His coronation song, My Time, is also now available on Spotify and other leading streaming platforms.
