The comedian-host recently called out TV5’s news department, News5, over a report which erroneously suggested he had a rift with Kapuso star Marian Rivera.
The Unkabogable Phenomenal Star Vice Ganda revealed on Friday, September 2, that News5 already reached out to him, to apologize for an erroneous report that was aired on the morning program, Frontline sa Umaga.
The report which suggested the comedian-host had a rift with Marian Rivera, was also posted on Twitter, which Vice Ganda saw and got furious about. The It’s Showtime host quoted TV5’s original tweet, which has since been deleted after Vice called them out.
“Ha??????!!!!!!!!!!! San galing ang balitang to?????? Nagkaissue kami? Iringan??!!!!! Pauso! Yuck! Super yuck! Mema???!!!” said Vice in his quote tweet.
During the Miss Q and A segment of his noontime show, Vice asked about sensationalized content[s] and headline[s] made by personalities and news agencies to earn clout and following online. It was an opportunity for him to discuss the issue briefly, albeit slightly in jest.
“Kagabi may nadiscover akong ganyan. Kinall-out ko talaga eh.Tapos inamin na nila. Tumawag sila sa akin na mali nga sila.
“(Last night, I discovered something like that. I did not hesitate to call them out. They admitted they were wrong. They called me),” he revealed.
The TV5 morning program, Frontline, also notably issued a public apology to Vice Ganda and Marian Rivera. The two local showbiz A-listers joined the recently-held Preview Ball, where they got caught having fun together.
Vice Ganda has repeatedly expressed his admiration toward Rivera on several occasions, so it was not surprising many supporters reacted negatively to the News5 report.
We issued an erratum this morning on #FrontlineSaUmaga for yesterday’s erroneous news report.
Rest assured, we are reviewing internal processes to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
Apologies to @vicegandako and Ms. Marian Rivera. We will do better. https://t.co/RJFuGd8Hby

Vice Ganda also quoted Gretchen Ho, who read the headline on the morning show and exchanged comments with the comedian-host on Twitter last night, to thank News5 and Ho for their prompt action and clarification.
