The collaboration of the in-demand director Cathy Garcia-Molina and Kapamilya stars Vice Ganda, and Ivana Alawi will finally push through this year.
Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi will star in the film “Partners in Crime” which will be directed by Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina. The film will be one of the entries in the 48th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in December.
In an interview with Cinema News in August 2022, the director shared that she had already met with Vice Ganda in a dinner setting to discuss the film.
“Request ni Vice to meet me and my staff para mag-discuss ng intentions. I brought my staff — my family na makakasama niya na lagi ko mga kasama. Ganoon din si Vice, magiging parte ng family. Kumbaga, getting to know each other. I like the idea, kasi pangit na sa first day lang [ng shooting] magki-kita-kita, ‘di ba?”
“It was fun. Movie-filled talks about love and friendship. Sinimulan namin na dapat kaming magkakaibigan para mag-translate sa film,” she said.
The director also talked about her mixed emotions about working with Vice Ganda for the first time. But she is excited to work on the project nonetheless.
“Excited ako [dahil] first time lahat. Nandoon ang excitement, at the same time — ‘di naman takot — alinlangan siguro, kasi ‘di ko alam kung paano mag-wo-work. Vice has been open to me na, ‘Direk, we are one team. Magtulungan tayo to give the audience the best movie,’”
“Exciting [kasi] mas kilala ako sa love story; si Vice, comedy. So paano kami gagawa ng may love story and at the same time makakapagpatawa at makakapag-entertain? Kasi, at the end of the day, sa MMFF, dream natin makapagpasaya, especially Christmas time,” said Direk Molina.
Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina is best known for her romantic comedy films. Some of her major films include A Very Special Love (2008), It Takes A Man And A Woman (2013), My Ex and Whys (2017), The Hows of Us (2018), and Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019).
