The Kapamilya series followed the story of a forbidden love affair and a father’s dangerous ambitions.
One of the most interesting and most controversial primetime dramas ABS-CBN has aired in 2012 is the ensemble drama, Dahil sa Pg-Ibig. Starring prime Kapamilya leading men Piolo Pascual and Jericho Rosales, and then rising Kapamilya actress Cristine Reyes, the series raised brows among viewers and critics as it tackled a foreign and taboo theme on primetime television.

Critics commended the curious thematic and production designs of the series, and the powerful performances of the cast. While the first part of the series met some mixed reviews, the rest of it enthralled the viewers and critics alike. The shift in the story’s spiritual motifs to carnal themes, earned rave commendations, and the show also topped national ratings.
Directed by Kapamilya directors Darnel Villaflor and Avel Sunpongco, Dahil Sa Pag-Ibig aired on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida block from March 12 to June 29, 2012. According to AGB Nielsen, the series finale earned a 26.5% household rating in Mega Manila, which is higher than its rival Kapuso show, One True Love’s 21.1%.
Other than Pascual, Rosales, and Reyes, Dahil sa Pag-Ibig’s ensemble cast also includes, Christopher de Leon, Maricar Reyes, Rafael Rosell, Denise Laurel, Rey “PJ” Abellana, Tetchie Agbayani, Freddie Webb, Carla Martinez, Joonee Gamboa, Cheska Iñigo, Kristel Fulgar, Malou Crisologo, Lorenzo Mara.
