ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema is set to release three movies in Philippine cinemas this year.
Since the pandemic hit in the early 2020s, along with the non-renewal of the network’s franchise, Star Cinema has been gradually releasing movies in theatres.
But in a report by Interaksyon on September 8, Star Cinema has already cooked up three movies to be released in cinemas this year.
These are “An Inconvenient Love,” “Partners in Crime” and “Labyu with an Accent.” A fourth movie with the title “Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan,” was also included but there is still no announced date for its premiere.
“An Inconvenient Love” will star Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano (DonBelle) in their second full-length film.
Star Cinema already posted a teaser poster for the film on Instagram on August 14.

The film will be directed by Petersen Vargas, who is best known for the acclaimed film 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten and the hit BL series Hello Stranger. It is slated to be released on November 23.
The official trailer was posted on YouTube in December 2021.
On the other hand, “Partners in Crime” will star Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. The film will be one of the entries in the 48th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in December.
Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina is best known for her romantic comedy films. Some of her major films include My Ex and Whys (2017), The Hows of Us (2018), and Hello, Love, Goodbye (2019).
“Labyu with an Accent” will star Coco Martin and Jodi Sta. Maria. The two will be teamed up for the first time. The film is also directed by Coco Martin, who is credited as Rodel Nacianceno, his real name.
Their film will also be an entry to the 2022 MMFF in December by Star Cinema.
Meanwhile, “Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan,” will star Joshua Garcia. The film is an adaptation of Bob Ong’s 2010 horror-mystery novel of the same title set in the ’90s. The film still has no premiere date.
