Ruru Madrid reminisced about his first encounter with action star Phillip Salvador, where he cried after being slapped by the latter.
On September 4, via an interview, Madrid shared his unforgettable experiences during GMA’s reality talent search Protégé.
“Noong time na nag-audition ako nandoon si Philip Salvador, ‘yung Protégé kasi may mga mentors kami and then siyempre na-starstruck ako sa kanya action star, e. And then, may pinabasa sa akin na monologue, kabisaduhin ko raw. Yung monologue was about parang tatay na binubugbog ‘yung anak na sumagot [sa kanya] for the first time.
Madrid said that the encounter with Salvador was his first time to be slapped while acting.
“Sabi niya, ‘Line!’ Totoong sampal. Naiyak ako pero tinuloy ko ‘yung eksena tinapos ko and then, sabi niya, ‘Good job.’
After his Protégé stint, Madrid’s journey in showbiz continued to flourish. In 2016, he portrayed the role of Ybrahim in the Kapuso fantaseries Encantadia.
Now, Madrid is the lead star of the top-rating action series Lolong. He is also a cast of Running Man Philippines.
