Ruru Madrid confirmed on August 27 that his show Lolong will not have new episodes, despite many of its audience requesting to have it extended.
“Natapos na po namin siya noong March. So talagang kung saan lang po aabutin, doon na lang po ang Lolong,” he explained during the press conference for Running Man Philippines at Robinsons Manila Midtown Atrium.
His series remained at the top of Nielsen Philippines NUTAM data, averaging 15.6 percent on August 14.
Lolong‘s rival, ABS-CBN’s Darna: The TV Series, on the other hand, is in second place.
Furthermore, the show garnered 18.3 percent on August 24—the highest rating it received.
Madrid expressed his gratitude for the show’s supporters, as he did not expect such appreciation from viewers.
Netizens even sent him videos of children copying his character Lolong, making his heart fuller, Madrid added.
Although there may be no more Lolong episode after its season finale, the Kapuso star said he wants to work with cast members Shaira Diaz, Arra San Agustin, Christopher de Leon, Jean Garcia, Bembol Roco, Malou de Guzman, Rochelle Pangilinan, Paul Salas, Marco Alcaraz, Mikoy Morales, and Maui Taylor, hopefully in another project.
In the meantime, his upcoming game show Running Man Philippines will air on September 3.
