On August 18, seasoned actor Raymond Bagatsing voiced his thoughts about the sex industry.
At the media conference for The Escort Wife, which included the LionhearTV, Bagatsing said that the sex industry is part of people’s lives.
“It’s a profession. It’s a living by making– it’s an honest living as long as hindi sila nanloloko. I think /we have to respect that because I suppose the sex industry is part of our lives.
“I have no judgment, and I am glad that /this film gave me more understanding of their psychology and that world of The Escort Wife.”
He then urged people not to judge people who work in the escort industry.
“I think it’s a profession na pinili. It so happened that it’s in the sex industry. Not for me to judge, really. But it is really /exciting profession, siguro. And I’m happy to be making a film about that to understand more kung ano ‘yung mga psychological ano nila– patterns. Wala naman ako masyadong opinyon.”
He then recounted his conversation with an escort when he was 17.
“I was siguro 17, and I meet one, I didn’t know na ‘yun pala ‘yung work niya. And being an actor siguro, natural na sa akin ‘yung magtanong ng magtanong ng question. Actually, kapag nakausap mo sila about their life, very sad ‘yung pinanggagalingan nila kaya sila napunta sa ganong buhay.”
However, he clarified that he didn’t date any escort when he was young.
“I don’t think I dated, nakakausap ko lang, actually, hindi ko talaga, I don’t really remember anymore kung tinanong ko or how I found out, pero ano naman sila, nagshare.”
Bagatsing stars in the upcoming sexy Vivamax movie, The Escort Wife, alongside Janelle Tee and Ava Mendez.
Under the direction of Paul Basinillo, The Escort Wife premieres on Vivamax on September 16.
