Real-life couple Kim Chiu and Xian Lim were surprised on Monday, September 12, that they have improved both as actors after working together in their comeback movie Always.
In the press conference, Chiu recalled watching Lim in the director’s booth, and all she could say was that he became “intense.”
“Mas malalim na si Xian, grabe! Very intense! Nagda-diet talaga siya. Super diet talaga siya ng bonggang-bongga para sa topless scenes niya,” she said.
The actor, on the other hand, felt they have grown as actors.
“Yung kay Kim talaga after not seeing each other in front of the camera, definitely, I can feel na nag-grow na kami from when we’re doing ‘yung pinaka-una namin which was in 2011. So ibang-iba.”
Always is a Filipino adaptation of the hit Korean movie of a similar title. Their last film was All You Need is Pag-Ibig in 2015.
Admittedly, they were challenged to separate their personal lives from their characters.
“Nandoon pa rin naman ‘yung biggest challenge na ihiwalay ang KimXi sa ginagawa namin as Ana-Lino. Nagtutulungan naman kami and parang mas madaling mag-work if you both know each other so well,” pointed out Chiu.
Lim added that it was both challenging and fulfilling as it brings back memories of when they first worked together.
“Challenging siya because sobrang familiar na kami sa isa’t-isa and alam na namin…naiilang na kami sa isa’t-isa because parang we know each other so well. At the same time, masaya siyang gawin dahil katulad ng sinabi ko kanina, kapag kasama ko si Kim kinikilig pa rin ako, nagtatawanan pa rin kami, nandoon pa rin ‘yung first time na nagkita kami, ‘yung pakiramdam na iyon. May mga challenges talaga and mayroon din namang mga perks of reel and real, hahaha.”
As for why fans still support their tandem, Chiu believed that people have been waiting for their comeback.
“So parang lahat sila na-excite sa comeback movie namin, and we’re very excited and sobra kaming natuwa sa response ng mga tao na magkakaroon kami ng movie together, which made us really happy and excited.”
Always will have its theatrical release on September 28.
