Kapuso star Jeric Gonzales reminisced the time when his video scandal went viral on social media in 2016.
On September 22, via Updated with Nelson Canlas podcast, Gonzales was asked what was his biggest struggle in the entertainment industry.
“Pinakamalaking struggle? Siguro nung nag-start pa lang ako, mga two years, three years pa lang ako sa showbiz. I was involved in an ano… yung scandal, of course. Parang social media scandal. I went viral talaga. Hindi ko alam kung paano siya iha-handle that time.”
He admitted he was extremely embarrassed by what happened, saying his self-esteem went down.
“Parang gusto ko na ngang huwag na lumabas, mag-quit, huwag na magpakita. Kasi ganoon pala ang feeling kapag nag-trend ka—nag-trend not in a good way—na parang tingin mo, lahat ng tao yung tingin sa ‘yo, yung tingin sa ‘yo hindi maganda.
“Nakakahiya talaga. Wala yung self-esteem mo, talagang down talaga,” he said.
Gonzales said he was thankful he has a supportive family despite the issue.
“Gi-nide talaga nila ako na kahit na anong isyu ‘yan, parang, if you will do good, parang mas makikita nila yung positive sa ‘yo, yung good sa ‘yo, yung pagbabago sa ‘yo.
“Kung paano ka nag-rise up, kung paano ka tumayo doon sa pagkakadapa mo, dun sa downfall mo, yung sa pagkakamali mo, to a good way na na-improve mo yung sarili mo,” he stated.
Gonzales was the male grand winner of GMA’s artista search show Protégé: The Battle for the Big Artista Break in 2012.
Now, he is part of the GMA’s primetime series Start-Up PH.
