Actor Gardo Versoza already has someone in mind whom he thought would be perfect to be the next Machete.
Machete is a statue that comes to life and is a fictional character in the late Pinoy novelist Pablo S. Gomez‘s comics series.
In an Instagram post on August 29, Kapuso hunk star Yasser Marta shared a topless mirror selfie. Versoza then left a comment saying, “Machete.”

Marta then replied saying, “Yun oh! Ang OG machete.”
In 1990, Cesar Montano starred in the Machete film titled Machete: Istatwang Buhay. Gardo Versoza headlined the sequel film in 1994, where he portrayed a struggling husband who tries to make ends meet by posing nude for a female sculptor. When the character got murdered, his statue comes to life.
Yasser Marta currently stars in the Kapuso series What We Could Be with Miguel Tanfelix and Ysabel Ortega. The series, which replaced Bolera, premiered on August 29 on GTV.
At What We Could Be‘s media conference on August 24, Marta explained that the series became a turning point in his career.
“Isang achievement ito sa buhay ko, sa takbo ng karera ko lalo ako na nanggaling ako sa wala dito sa industriyang ito. Nagsimula from scratch, from zero. Then ngayon, binigyan ako ng ganitong kalaking opportunity lalo ng mga taong behind this project, mga award-winning talaga.
“Ang laking turning point nu’n bilang aktor. Ako naman, ginagawa ko ang trabaho ko kahit ano pang ibigay sa akin, maliit man o malaki, ibinibigay ko ang best ko,” he said.
