Former Darna stars Marian Rivera, Vilma Santos, and Rio Locsin gave their message to Jane de Leon.
In an interview on Friday, September 9, Rivera congratulated De Leon for bagging the role of Darna. She hesitates to advise De Leon as she believes she has her own acting style.
Rivera said, “Congratulations sa kanya. Para sa akin isa yan sa pinakamagandang proyekto so I’m happy for her. Wala akong karapatang mag-advice dahil naniniwala ako kanya-kanyang karakter at pagganap yan so naniniwala akong kaya niya yan.”
Rivera starred in the 2009 Darna series on the GMA network.
In a report by ABS-CBN News published on Tuesday, August 9, Santos and Locsin offered words of encouragement to De Leon.
“Ngayon, Jane, ikaw ang napiling Darna,” she addressed Jane. “Bigyan mo sila ng inspirasyon na meron pa ring pagmamahal, meron pa ring tiwala, at meron pa ring pag-asa.”
“Ang daming humawak ng batong ‘yan, ngayon Jane nasa iyo ang bato. Pangalagaan mo ‘yang mabuti. Maging ehemplo ka ng henerasyon ngayon. I wish you all good luck. Nandito lang ako to support you,” added Santos.
Santos starred in the 1980 film Darna and Ding.
In response to Santo’s message, De Leon said, “Actually, hindi ko po inexpect na meron po pala akong message from tita Vilma Santos and gagawin ko po talaga ‘yung best ko para po sa inyong lahat. Maraming, maraming salamat po.”
Locsin also showed her support for the young actress and reminded her that portraying Darna is such a big honor and privilege.
“Lagi ko ‘tong sinasabi kay Jane. Jane, napakalaki ng karangalan, napakalaking pribilehiyo. Mahirap pero hindi lahat tinatawag na Darna. Hindi lahat nabibigyan ng pagkakataon,” she said.
Locsin continued, “Andito naman kami. Hindi ka namin pababayaan. Lahat ng suporta ibibigay namin sa ‘yo. At sabi ko sa kanya talagang i-imbibe mo, dalhin mo sa puso mo.”
Locsin starred in the 1979 film Bira! Darna! Bira!
