On August 17, director Jeffrey Hidalgo recalled Lampas Langit‘s seven-year journey.
At the media conference for Lampas Langit with the press, including LionhearTV, Hidalgo expressed gratitude that his film would finally get its premiere in Vivamax.
“More than the sex, it’s really the thrill of it. That actually also escalates the erotic film feel. Na feeling ko ‘yun ‘yung difference ng film namin na ito.
“‘Yung nga kasi as I said, I’ve been working on this film for seven years, since 2015. Tapos finally, after seven years, nagawa na siya. So maraming salamat sa Vivamax. Thank you so much.”
He also cited the importance of the movie to him.
“Alam nila ‘to, alam nila how important this film is for me. It’s really ano talaga siya–thriller talaga siya. And then sex is used as a weapon. ‘Yun ‘yung sinasabi ko.”
He then narrated the conceptualization of Lampas Langit in 2015.
“2015, we started working on this after Silong was released. After Silon kasi, si Kelly approached me– well, aside from her being my friend, sabi niya, she really wants to work with me. And then noong nagawa na ‘yung script and I ran the script with her for a few months and we started pitching sa iba’t ibang mga ano.
“Medyo matagal. Nag-submit kami sa mga festivals and all. Madaming dinaanan ‘to. Until na-greenlight na siya sa isang studio. Pero, nagkaroon ng medyo aberya, hindi natuloy.”
He then detailed how the project landed in Viva Films in 2019, which the pandemic hindered.
“I think 2019, na pitch na namin siya sa Viva, na-green light na siya. Tapos nagpandemic, so hindi na siya namin na-shoot. Kaya na-revive nga lang siya noong– actually ever since nag-start din ako with Vivamax, they kept asking me na, ‘Oh, baka gusto mong gawin ‘yung Lampas Langit.’ ‘Yun, so finally nagawa na namin.
“Sabi ko nga, it really fits like T in this platform but at the same time, but we really dit make it for this platform kasi nga ‘yun talaga siya. It was really an erotic thriller from the start.”
The Vivamax romance thriller Lampas Langit stars Christine Bermas, Ricky Davao, Baron Geisler, Chloe Jenna, and Milana Ikimoto.
Directed by Jeffrey Hidalgo, Lampas Langit premieres on Vivamax this August 19.
