Viva stars Diego Loyzaga, and Franki Russell clarified the unfollowing incident on Instagram at the media conference for Pabuya with the press, including LionhearTV, on September 9, 2022.
Loyzaga explained that he was doing method acting in June 2022 to prepare for their role in Pabuya.
“Actually, sa script kasi, six years silang hindi nagkita, so ginawa kong method acting na ‘wag munang kausapin si Franki until magkita kami sa set. It’s a style of acting. Gumana naman kasi ‘yung mga lines niya sa akin is, ‘Na-miss kita’ and ‘yung mga lines ko rin ay, ‘Na-miss rin kita.’ So pasok naman po sa roles namin.
“But we remain friends. We always see each other in person. We /just avoid each other. I’m kidding.
“No, there was no awkwardness. As soon as Franki saw me, she ran out to me with open arms.”
Russell agreed with Loyzaga regarding the impact of his ‘method acting’ on their scenes in Pabuya.
“Wala, I mean, we did a project together. We hadn’t seen each other in a while, so when we saw each other. It was /kind of/ like– like Diego said, it was like the story, it was /kind of/ like, ‘I miss you,’ I don’t know. I’m saying too much. Yeah we were method acting.”
Before that, Loyzaga and Russell joked that the actor blocked the former Pinoy Big Brother housemate on IG.
“Nag-unfollow ba kami, parang hindi naman yata. Parang misinformed naman ata,” said Loyzaga.
“I never unfollowed you. You blocked me–joke lang,” Russell replied.
Director Philip Giordano attested to Loyzaga and Russell’s chemistry on set.
“I have to say, the chemistry between them is incredible. You are really going to be amazed how good /they/ are on screen. Like, it’s unbelievable. People /are going to/ want to put them together a million times because they click so well. They’re really super believable and really feel their emotions.”
Diego Loyzaga and Franki Russell stars in the upcoming Vivamax movie, Pabuya. The cast includes Felix Roco, Jela Cuenca, Jiad Arroyo, Pabuya, Thor Gomez, Marco Gomez, Andrea Garcia, Jean Kiley, and many more.
