Derek Ramsay officially parted ways with the GMA Network as he cut his contract short on September 15, 2022.
According to PEP, the actor talked with his GMA bosses, who understood his current priorities.
“Sa GMA contract ko, out na ako sa GMA contract ko. I was able to part ways with GMA. I had one and a half years more.
“GMA understood and really respected my wishes na, for now, ayoko na.
“Nakakatuwa kasi they granted that. They cut na my contract short and we both have much respect for one another.
“Yeah, that’s where I am now,” he said.
Ramsay signed with the network in April 2019. His exclusive contract with the network did not expire yet but the actor already terminated it.
Some say that artists can buy out the remaining time in their contract. When asked about this, Ramsay did not disclose anything but only said that he and the GMA bosses had an understanding.
“I’m not allowed to talk about it, but what I can say is we have respect with one another. Talagang they understood my position.
“It’s not, like, I have anything against them or they have something against me, wala, none of that.
“They really see how happy I am with my life and they see my priorities really have changed,” he said.
The actor only worked for one project in GMA which is the series The Better Woman.
In April 2021, Ramsay backed out from the Kapuso drama series, To Have and To Hold. Rocco Nacino took over his place with Abellana and Max Collins.
