The young Kapamilya star made history as the first Filipina to bring home the highly coveted award.
Following her prestigious win at the 2022 Seoul International Drama Awards, Belle Mariano unsurprisingly made it to the top of local trending topics on Twitter. What is more fascinating, however, and perhaps, a ‘Filipino pride’ moment, is her well-deserved coverage by some of South Korea’s biggest news agencies.
Aside from her well-followed walk-through on the red carpet and interviews, which captured her dominating Filipina beauty, Mariano also made an appearance on various South Korean entertainment news outlets. Her gracing the red carpet and accepting her Outstanding Asian Star Award were well-documented in sharp photos by leading Korean broadcasters, including SBS Korea and KBS World. Koreaboo, a leading Korean entertainment website, also made an article about her.
“Although some Filipinos have won the award in the past, she was the first female to do so, making history. An avid fan of both K-Pop and K-Drama, she did her best to connect with Korean fans by introducing herself in Korean both on the red carpet and before making her acceptance speech”, the website wrote.
On Twitter, the fans of the young Kapamilya actress and her love team, Donbelle, celebrated, by sharing photos captured by the South Korean press, as well as the articles written about Mariano.
