The hair and beauty expert recently made her foray into managing talents and producing content.
Bambbi Fuentes believes that her years of being a hair and make-up artist for stars, helped her a lot in her new venture: as a talent manager.
“I’ve been in the industry for a very long time, I can tell one kung merong ‘it’ factor o wala”, she shared in a mini-presscon held for the film, yesterday, September 16.
Having recently put up her talent management arm, the Dragon Artist Management, Fuentes projects preparedness in exploring her capacities in producing a film. Last year, her short film, Sugat Sa Dugo, made Janice de Belen win a Best Actress trophy at the 2021 International Film Festival Manhattan.
The film also bagged the Independent Achievement Award for Producing. These accolades, according to Fuentes, motivated her to move forward with producing a full-length feature.
“It’s a movie that will tackle everybody’s life, about poverty, about love, about life, about death. So medyo… it’s a dark film in that sense, pero I hope that everybody will be able to relate”, she said as she shared details about her upcoming film, Sugat Sa Dugo, which she also wrote. Director Danni Ugali (The Maid in London, 2018), directed the film.
As producing movies is an entirely new endeavor for Fuentes, she admitted that it opened her eyes to many things, including those she thought she would never be able to accomplish in this lifetime.
“I was able to work with no sleep for almost 20 hours, na parang kaya pala,” she shared.
She then went on, how she was able to convince the award-winning actress, Janice de Belen, into joining the Sugat Sa Dugo. She noted that De Belen’s Best Actress win in Manhattan was crucial to getting her again for the full-length film.
“Si Janice has been my friend for decades already. We’ve been working together for so long, left and right in movies, in TV shows, and magazines”, Fuentes told the press. She took note of de Belen’s exemplary acting chops, which she said are what Emma, the main character in the film, required.
‘Yung role ni Mama Emma, is heavy. Andami niyang moments na kailangan talaga ng acting ability. Wala akong ibang naisip kundi si Janice,” she added.
Fuentes shared how proud she is for having accomplished something she believed will educate the public about HIV and AIDS.
“We are actually able to really showcase what the disease is all about. We tried to educate people…to let them know kung ano ba ‘talaga ‘yung life, and what HIV and AIDS are really about.”
