On August 16, beauty queen-host Ruffa Gutierrez revealed the secret to her success in showbiz.
At the media conference for Gutierrez’s contract signing with Viva Artist Agency with the press, including LionhearTV, she highlighted the value of not burning bridges in showbiz.
“Just/ be real– be authentic, working hard, like what my mom says all the time, be professional, and always be on time. And katulad ng sinabi ko, don’t ever burn bridges kasi umiikot lang naman tayo dito sa show business.”
She also emphasized the importance of treating people well, especially in production.
“Napaka liit ng industriya and ‘yung mga taong nakasama mo twenty years ago, makakasama mo rin ulit sila sa future. As a matter of fact, ‘yung mga taong nasa production noong araw, ngayon mga big bosses na ngayon. So tayo-tayo rin lang naman ang magkakasama and that’s really the big secret that the young ones should emulate.”
She also acknowledged that controversies are part of a celebrity’s success.
“I think ‘yung pagiging controversial, hindi naman ‘yan ginagawa. It just sort of happens. It’s like sort of luck, when lady luck is on your side and marami kang success, kakambal niyan ang controversy, so hindi natin maiiwasan ‘yan. Kung hindi ka na pinag-uusapan sa showbiz, doon ka na magtaka. Ibig sabihin laos ka na. Okay na rin ‘yung pinag-uusapan, tinitira, at least they still have time. And your still relevant for them.”
As for her career, Gutierrez began her venture in showbiz with the 1987 film Takbo…! Bilis…! Takboooo. After that, she starred in Viva movies such as Sheman: Mistress of the Universe and I Love You 3x a Day. Â
Currently, she is a judge in It’s Showtime’s Miss Q&A segment. As for films, she depicted Imelda Marcos in the Viva Films production of Maid in Malacañang.
