On August 16, beauty queen-host Ruffa Gutierrez revealed that her Mom Annabelle Rama received advice from the doctors to lie low from managing artists.
At the media conference for Gutierrez’s contract signing with Viva Artist Agency with the press, including LionhearTV, she explained that the doctor advised Rama to avoid stressful tasks.
“I’m just very grateful and very happy na patuloy pa ring dumadating ‘yung mga blessings. Now with regards with my Mom, I remember that there was a time in my life na the doctor said bawal na siya mag manage, kasi bawal na siya ma-stress. Medyo nag-lie low siya sa pagmamanage ng mga artista.”
She also recounted talks Rama had with her doctor regarding her job as a manager.
“The doctor told my Mom to rest because naii-stress siya with all the talents she was managing before. Ang maganda kay Mommy ngayon, she has Boss Vic and the Viva family to handle my career. She’s always going to be a part of my life and my/ career, not only because she’s Mom.”
However, she clarified that despite signing with Viva, Rama would remain a ‘co-manager’ for her career.
“But you know, since she’s Mom, she’s never going to go away, and I honor her, so even if Viva would be /managing my career, she would be there–my co-manager.
“I just want to make my mom happy. Kanina nga binibiro ko si Boss Vic, bigyan mo lang naman ng envelope si Mommy to make her feel important, masaya na ‘yan di ba? Kunyari lagi siya kasali, kunyari she’s always part of the equation. So let’s give it to her, because we should always honor our parents.”
Rama is known for managing successful Filipino artists, which includes her children, such as Ruffa Gutierrez and Richard Gutierrez.
As for Gutierrez, she began her journey in showbiz with the 1987 film Takbo…! Bilis…! Takboooo. After that, she starred in Viva movies such as Sheman: Mistress of the Universe and I Love You 3x a Day.
Gutierrez is part of It’s Showtime’s Miss Q&A segment. She also worked on the interpretation of Imelda Marcos in the Viva Films production of Maid in Malacañang.
