Already years in the making, the highly-anticipated comeback series of the Kapamilya leading man is reportedly set to get the cameras rolling next month.
Richard Gutierrez’s comeback series begins the first cycle of its lock-in taping next month. The project was first announced in 2018, a year after the star moved to ABS-CBN from TV5.
Gutierrez’s first TV series in ABS-CBN was the fantasy series La Luna Sangre (2017), where he played the main antagonist, Sandrino.
Late this year, during ABS-CBN’s trade launch event, Iron Heart (the tentative title of his comeback series) was confirmed to air this year, finally.
The identity of Gutierrez’s leading lady is yet to be revealed, although Kapuso actress, Bea Alonzo, was first attached to the project when she was still with ABS-CBN.
Alonzo left ABS-CBN last year. Sue Ramirez, who starred in the recently-concluded series, The Broken Marriage Vow, is rumored to take over Alonzo’s role, although there is no official word about it yet.
Ian Veneracion, also notably was part of the original cast, but confirmation about his participation in the project is yet to come out.
Rumored to be an action drama, Iron Heart will be Gutierrez’s first solo or lead-starrer in more than five years since TV5’s Panday series. Gutierrez, Alonzo, and Veneracion got slated to undergo training for the series, which kind of gave away what genre Iron Heart would be.
Gutierrez’s most recent project is the action-drama series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, where he played one of the major villains, Lito Valmoria. He played the role for nearly two years. The phenomenal TV series ended its seven-year run last August 12.
