On July 30, Trans beauty queen Kim Quindoza (Queen Kimmy) said she saw the opportunity to promote Trans Rights through her role in the Vivamax Plus Boys Love, Kumusta Bro: The Series.
At the media conference for Kumusta Bro: The Series, Quindoza echoed the Trans Community’s fight for equality.
“Noong tinanggap ko po itong role na ito sa Kumusta Bro, ang pinaka nagustuhan ko po dito is nabigyan talaga ng opportunity na at least, mailathala natin, masabi ko talaga na ‘Trans Rights is also a Human Rights.’ ‘Yun talaga ‘yung nilalaban namin.”
She then cited how the Trans Community relates to the BL genre.
“For me, love has no gender and I always believe na kapag nagmahal ka regardless whether you’re a man, or lesbian, or whatever gender you have. Considered as love pa rin siya. For me, nakaka-relate pa rin ako kasi parang lahat tayo ay human beings. So nakakaramdam tayo ng–nagmamahal tayo and kailangan din ng tao na nagmamahal sa atin.
“And with that, ‘yun ‘yung pinaglalaban namin as Trans– part ng Trans community na kahit papaano tumaas ‘yung tingin sa amin ng mga tao, na hindi porket bakla ka hindi lang parang bakla ka lang.”
Quindoza highlighted the goal of the series, which is to tell the story of the LGBTQIA+ community to the younger generations.
“We have a purpose, we are here to inspire, and you know contribute something in the society and ‘yun po ‘yung sabihin sa story na ‘to, na we have a magical story, we have a beautiful story, na kailangang malaman ng mga bata and lahat ng mga viewers, and also lahat ng Gen Z, lahat ng market na ito pala nag-e-exist pala itong community na ‘to. At least we can educate them and also inspire them.”
