A netizen countered content creator Darryl Yap’s claim on social media that other filmmakers booed him at the Cinemalaya 2022 premiere.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, August 14, Yap claimed that some filmmakers at the Cinemalaya premiere booed when his name was flashed as one of the producers of a film.
He shared that he produced a Cinemalaya film this year but couldn’t promote it because of Maid in Malacanang.
“Yes, I produced a Cinemalaya film. I can’t publicly promote it because I have #MAIDinMALACAÑANG. sabi sa akin, nung lumabas daw ang name ko nag “boo” raw ang mga filmmakers na nasa bulwagan. ano raw ang reaction ko…ito po: NOSI BALASI.”
However, a netizen and film critic @ace_antipolo belied Yap’s claim.
In a tweet on Wednesday, August 17, Antipolo said that he was at the premiere of Cinemalaya Film Festival 2022, and no one booed Yap.
He also added that although he and many others may have been tempted to do it, no one did out of respect to the cast and crew of the film.
“Hoy bakla walang nag-boo sa’yo (kahit ako gusto ko) bilang respeto sa cast & crew. Andun ako nung premiere night sa CCP. Andun ka ba? Imbento ka na naman.”
