Musician Mcoy Fundales on Tuesday, August 16, revealed that his comeback single was a continuation of what he wrote for a show four years ago.
Fundales, in 2018, did a morning Kapuso program titled, Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw, starring Camille Pratz and Neil Ryan Sese. He also made and sang its official soundtrack (OST).
In the virtual media conference of his latest single, including LionhearTV, the musician confessed that the song was “really meant to be a simple theme song,” a piece of opening music for the show.
“‘Yung story kasi doon, ‘yung concept ng show, sa akin din galing. So I wrote din the theme song, the same title, Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw. Kaya lang, noong 2018, isang stanza, isang chorus lang siya,” he explained.
But when he released Bakit Kita Hahabulin? in 2019, Fundales realized the need for a “follow-up,” especially when the pandemic hit.
“Inisip ko ‘bakit hindi ko tapusin ‘yung song na ito?'”
He wanted to finish the song he wrote for posterity, he said.
“I want to finish the song I wrote for the show. For posterity lang, I want to put another stanza, arrange it properly, record it properly,” said the musician. “Medyo nandoon na kasi ako sa point na naghahalughog ako ng mga unfinished songs ko, I mean, I wanna finish them for posterity at ito ang inuna ko, itong Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw.”
For his return to the music scene, Fundales will be releasing 5-6 more singles and an album. He also plans to make a collaboration with Michael V.
His latest single Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw is under AltG Records.
