Ruffa Gutierrez and Kaladkaren reacted to the topic of ants on the Miss Q&A segment of It’s Showtime, comparing them with the situation of Filipinos.
On August 10, the two went viral on social media after they shared their comparison between ants and Filipinos.
The candidates of the competition were asked, “Kung talagang masipag ang mga langgam, bakit walang napapabalitang umasensong langgam?”
Ralph Conducto Romero, one of the contestants, highlighted the importance of unity.
“Maganda ’yung pino-promote mo, ’yung unity. Malay mo, nag-aaway-away din sila, but I love that you promoted unity,” Gutierrez agreed with the candidate’s answer.
Kaladkaren was not satisfied with Romero’s answer. The former suggested that the latter could have related the situation with Filipinos continuously working hard but still not progressing in life.
“Pwede niyong gawing metaphorical, eh. Bakit ’yung mga langgam parang mga tao di ba? ’Yung mga mahihirap nating kababayan kahit gaano kahirap silang nagtatrabaho hindi sila umaasenso because of bad system because of so many things on social issues, nao-oppress sila. Pwedeng ganoon ’yung atake,” Kaladkaren said.
