Queen of All Media Kris Aquino on Saturday, August 20 was revealed to be battling two more autoimmune diseases after leaving the Philippines for treatment of two previous ailments.
Aquino’s eldest sister, Maria Elena a.k.a. “Ballsy”, shared the condition of her youngest sibling during an interview with the non-government organization (NGO), Banyuhay Aotearoa.
“When she left, she had two autoimmune diseases. I think now there are four,” said Ballsy. “She’s not even 90 pounds now, she’s like 85 or 86. For the other treatments that they want to try, she has to put on more weight. She has to get a little bit stronger.”
Earlier in June, Kris flew to the United States to seek long-term treatment for her Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA).
More than two months later, Ballsy said that the medical team for her sister is still looking for the right, treatment for her.
“She has so many allergies that all the medicines they’ve been trying haven’t been working, or maybe they did but then the side effects—they were not too happy about,” Ballsy expressed.
Meanwhile, Kris’s hopes are being lifted, thanks to her sons, Bimby and Josh.
Ballsy recalled, “There was a time [when] she was really feeling that she was about to give up because she was having such a difficult time. But then, when she looks at the pictures of her sons or when she sees them, then she knows she still has to fight.”
In 2018, Kris revealed to the public that she is battling EGPA and has been sharing her health journey, including treatments, since then.
