On August 23, Julia Barretto considered Expensive Candy her most daring project yet.
At the digital media conference for Expensive Candy with the press, including LionhearTV, Barretto acknowledged the maturity of her role in the Viva movie.
“Yeah I would say Direk no, ito na ‘yung pinaka-so far- daring na nagawa ko.”
She addressed the possibility of accepting a more daring project in the future.
“And to answer your second question, I don’t know maybe–maybe not, but I never want to close my doors sa mga kahit ano pang opportunities ang dumating sa akin.”
She then highlighted her reason for accepting the role in Expensive Candy.
“Never akong makaka-No kay direk JP, kahit ano pa ‘yung ibigay niya, ipagawa sa akin di ako makaka-No. Number one the story is really nice noong nabasa ko ‘yung script. I immediately knew I wanted to do it. And I feel like I’m already at the point in my life na it’s okay to get out of my comfort zone. So yeah, I was very much excited to do this.”
Barretto also recounted how she told her family and loved ones about her daring role in the upcoming romance movie.
“Before doing the film, one Sunday lunch with my family, I told them about the film that was pitched to me. Tapos noong after ng couple of months na dumating po sa akin ‘yung script, pinabasa ko po ‘yun ng buo sa Mom ko.
“She really loved Between Maybes, she loved Direk JP, so gave me the green light, hindi lang ang management ang nagbibigay ng green light, pati si Miss Marj may green light. Na-green light naman and my whole family we’re very supportive of it. Everybody loves Direk JP and even Kaloy, so they’re very/ excited about this film.”
