Director of the upcoming sexy film Baby Boy, Baby Girl Jason Paul Laxamana explained during the press conference on Tuesday, August 2, why Kylie Versoza and Marco Gumabao are leading the movie.
The film was originally given to Heaven Peralejo and Kiko Estrada. For some reason, the former will be doing a different project.
According to the director, the two stars were among the choices when they were brainstorming for Baby Boy, Baby Girl. It all boiled down to who is available for the locked-in taping and is physically fit for the role.
“Ano siya, nakalatag yung choices kung sino ‘yung mga potential na cast, based on—galing sa catalog ng Viva, or ng Viva Artist, or ‘yung may mga film contract sa Viva. So ‘yun, pinag-uusapan sa mga meeting kung sino ang available, or kung sino ang bagay.
“Then kung sino ang mag-emerge na pinaka—parang magwo-work ang schedule, kung bagay physically sa role at ‘yung acting capability nila, so sila ang mapipili,” the director said.
Although Peralejo will not lead his movie, she will be starring in another Viva project titled Nanahimik Ang Gabi together with Ian Veneracion.
Meanwhile, Versoza and Gumabao shared their thoughts on how their director will approach the project.
The beauty queen-turned-sexy actress revealed that she did not hesitate to accept the role knowing that it was Direk JP who will be directing.
“Ako kasi, alam ko na rin ang work ni Direk JP.
“Napanuod ko ‘yung most of his work. So alam ko na kung paano siya gumawa ng mga eksena. And gusto ko siya. So wala akong hindi ginusto, or niligwak, or hindi p’wede.”
Gumabao, on the other hand, has worked with the filmmaker on the 2019 movie Just a Stranger. He already knows how the director works.
“So kumbaga, alam ko po kung paano magtrabaho si Direk JP. I know his shots are, he does it tastefully. Hindi niya ginagawa na mukhang bastos or medyo bastusin.
“So when I read the script, sa totoo lang, kumbaga okay lang sa akin. Nothing too hard, nothing too little, nothing too daring to do. So kumbaga, kaya naman. So we’ll see on set kung talagang kakayanin natin.”
Baby Boy, Baby Girl is about sugar babies and will begin its shooting in the second week of August.
