The latest elimination night of the popular singing reality search ended bitterly with the shocking departure of two of its frontrunners.
The viewers of the sophomore season of Idol Philippines were in shock and dismay on Sunday night, August 28, when hopefuls Misha de Leon and Nisha Bedaña bade farewell and ended their journeys in the competition.
The two finalists received the lowest combined judges and public vote scores, despite getting nods from the four judges. It was not surprising that many of the tweets sent on Twitter with the official hashtag contained the netizens’ dismay over the results.
However, it wasn’t just the viewers who disapproved of the results, as the judges, themselves, looked frustrated over the outcome of the competition. On Twitter, the judges tried to ease the largely negative public reception of the show, by reminding the viewers they did their part.
“I don’t know kung pwede kong sabihin ‘to pero we are devastated. We are devastated pero we can only do so much as judges pero iba pa rin talaga ‘yung voting. Wala akong masabi.
“(I don’t know if I am even allowed to say this but we are truly devastated. We are devastated bit we can only do so much as judges, but public voting also plays a part. I am speechless),” Chito Miranda said after the announcement of results.
He posted a similar statement on Twitter afterward.
“…nagkakatalo talaga sa votes (the votes do make a big difference). Please, please vote for your chickens” he pleaded.
Sasabihin ko ulit:
Devastated.
As judges, we could only do so much.
Nagkakatalo talaga sa votes.
Please, please, please vote for your chickens.

“It was a tough night forus and many who joined us tonight. But that’s why your votes are important. If you believe in someone, don’t just hope but vote for that hopeful to get in the next round,” encouraged Gary Valenciano, who responded to several tweets against the elreuults.
