On August 2, singer Garrett Bolden highlights the support from GMA Network and fellow Kapuso performers for his upcoming role in Miss Saigon in Guam.
At a media conference, Bolden cited how GMA Sparkle expressed their support for his role as John Thomas in the theater production of Miss Saigon in Guam.
“Together with my manager po, and my handler, and the production din po like All-Out Sundays, nagsabi naman po ako na prior, we’ve made arrangements naman na po regarding this project na papasukin ko po, and they’re really supportive about it. So, yeah, I’ll be back, I’ll be back for sure.”
He then listed the Kapuso performers he talked to once he received the news about his part in Miss Saigon.
“Sa mga ka-workmates ko po, shinare ko po kila Kuya Christian, kila Kuya Mark, kila Ate Aicelle, na-excite ako kasi I know it’s something that I’m really looking up sa kanila. ‘Yung experience nila sa teatro, kahit sa performing din, kahit sa All-Out Sundays stage, I can really see the difference which is something na gusto ko matutunan.”
Bolden also revealed details about his conversation with Aicelle Santos regarding his interest in working in a theater.
“Prior to Miss Saigon po, before pa. Studio 7 days pa namin, lagi ako nagtatanong sa kanila, lalo na sa kanya (Aicelle) na parang paano ba pumasok ba sa PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association) like ‘yung local theater natin dito sa Pilipinas. May audition ba? Saan ba mag-aaudition for a certain play? Ganyan. Kasi, I’m really, really excited to po to experience theater po.”
He cited Santos’ advice about working in a theater production.
“So when she found out about Miss Saigon, she got really excited po. And then I asked for advice din. Then she shared her experience as a cast of Miss Saigon, what to expect, what to not expect–and what to come prepared for, what to learn prior to [doing] rehearsals. ‘Yung mga bagay po na maliliit pero napakahalaga.”
Bolden had a virtual meeting with select members of the entertainment press, including LionhearTV, and detailed how he landed the role.
Bolden got the role of John Thomas in the theater production of Miss Saigon in Guam. Before his venture into theater productions, he gained popularity as one of the finalists of The Clash Season 1. He also became one of the mainstay performers of All-Out Sundays.
