On August 2, singer Garrett Bolden admitted that he had doubts about his singing career and role in Miss Saigon.
Bolden had a virtual meeting with select members of the entertainment press, including LionhearTV, and detailed how he landed the role.
The Kapuso singer confessed to questioning whether he would get his big break as a singer and performer.
“A lot of times po talaga dumaan sa akin ‘yung– kahit na ‘yung before pandemic and after pandemic with everything is going back to normal, lagi ko po minsan na kinekwestyon na is this really for me? Am I really going to get the break that I want or I deserve or do my stage get bigger po para sa pag-share ng talent ko.”
However, he noted that he would often get signs for him to continue with his career whenever he had doubts.
“Ang lagi ko pong nano-notice na everytime I doubt myself, something comes in front me telling me na no, you have to wait, you have to do this. So I think its really a blessing from God talaga na I’ve been /doubting myself for a long time, but then these blessings comes and comes everytime.”
As for his role as John Thomas in Miss Saigon, Bolden confessed that he had second thoughts about leaving his career behind for the theater production.
“Maraming times po, mga parang paulit-ulit na nag re-recur, na nako paano po kung umalis ako, siyempre, baka parang hindi na ako makita sa TV, hindi na ako makapag-ano sa All-Out Sundays, so ‘yun ‘yung inisip ko na parang pagbalik ko wala na akong work.”
However, he clarified that GMA Network remained supportive of his career.
“Pero sabi ko nga po, it’s something na I have to experience as well, and nakita ko naman po ‘yung support ng GMA Network and mga kasama ko sa All-Out Sundays.”
Bolden first gained popularity as one of the finalists of The Clash Season 1, which led to him becoming one of the mainstay performers of All-Out Sundays.
