Pinoy EDM artist Jace Roque on Friday, August 12, revealed that his latest single, Trust is a very personal song as it narrates how cheating tore him apart.
Roque recently made a comeback after suffering from mental health issues. Trust is part of his upcoming mini-album “Inferno.”
In an exclusive interview with LionhearTV, the singer said that his latest single was based on his cheating experience. His ex had him break down after discovering that there was a third party in their relationship.
Roque turned to music as a way of coping with the pain, giving birth to his song Trust.
Kaya ang naging way of coping ko is writing it into a song. Kaya sobrang bilis lang ng process for me,” he said.
This is the first that the singer shared his personal experience. During the song’s recording process, he was still in shambles, preventing him from sharing the details.
Speaking from experience, the singer realized that, “Ang trust, ang hirap niyang buuin. It takes months and years to build pero seconds to destroy. So dapat pinapahalagahan talaga.”
Roque also learned that it is not always better to exceed one’s limits.
“During that time kasi, in-ignore ko ang mga red flags.
Why are you sharing such an experience?
“Kasi one of the reasons rin kung bakit nagshe-share ako ng personal experiences ko is gusto kong may matutunan ‘yung ibang tao from my own stupidity, my own mistakes, ganiyan.”
How is the creation process?
Roque explained that the song only narrates his viewpoint after the confrontation.
Did his ex hear about the song?
Roque’s former partner actually heard the song. They still remain friends despite the infidelity.
Kasi being friends with your ex is a choice.
Were there any violent reactions from his former lover?
There was none, said the singer. His ex loved the song.
“Thankfully, wala and thankfully, hindi niya ako inaway agad. Kasi point-of-view ko iyon eh. It’s my emotions na pina-process.”
What should be the listeners’ takeaway?
In the coming months, Roque will release yet another song which is part of his mini album. He said that it is his way of gifting his fans and himself.
The “Inferno” will be released on December 16, two days before his birthday.
