In a tweet on Thursday, August 18, Donnalyn Bartolome called out Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen after he criticized her Kanto-themed party.
Leonen didn’t drop names in his previous tweeted, “Instead of pretending to be poor through a lavish kanto-themed party, why not understand what it is to be poor and find ways and means to assist. To be poor is not something to celebrate by the rich. It is insensitive. Just saying.”
Bartolome defended herself for having a Kanto-themed birthday party by reasoning that it was a remembrance of her past. She also called Leonen “unprofessional” for judging her without collecting facts.
Bartolome said, “@marvicleonen That Kanto Birthday party is my history! How unprofessional of you to not gather enough facts before judging. You are a Supreme Court Justice Associate, Sir! I provided proof even sa vlog na dati pa akong ganun so sino kayo para pagbawalan ako sa dati kong gawi?”

On her Facebook account, Bartolome reacted: “Wow pati Supreme Court Justice associate? Bawal po ako pumarty the way I partied before fame? Sino po kayo para mag-assume I don’t know what it’s like to be poor? Supreme Court Justice Associate tapos di nag-gather ng facts bago mangjudge? What a shame!”
She also denied that she pretended to be poor through a Kanto-themed birthday party.
“Who told you I never did anything to assist Sir? I celebrated my life by looking back at my past and not being ashamed of it. Did I pretend to be poor? Poor pa rin po ba sa inyo naka Bvlgari watch ako dun with diamond earrings and my imported P10,000 slippers? Mga nakaPrada pa mga bisita ko at Chanel, sadyang sa kanto lang kami pumarty at nakapambahay lang,” she reasoned.
“Para mag-assume sa past ko that this was not a reality for me,” she related.
She then supposed that Leonen was just seeking likes on Twitter by reacting to her Kanto-themed birthday party.
“Pwede pong focus nalang kayo sa mga nawawalang mga babae and assist with preventing such events from happening kesa judging po kayo sa birthday party ng dati pang pumaparty sa kanto?,” she added. “para lang magkatwitter likes eh.”
Bartolome gained criticism after sharing her kanto or street-themed birthday party through a vlog on Thursday, August 11.
The vlogger celebrated her birthday on July 9.
