Scorpio Nights 3 director Lawrence Fajardo on Tuesday, July 26, had his voice cracking while explaining why it was important for him to show the movie to the public.
After the premiere night, Fajardo pointed out that he “needed to see it on the big screen during the press conference.”
The film he made was a remake of the classic movie by filmmaker Peque Gallaga.
“Because this is a Direk Peque Gallaga, I needed to show it to the public. So ma-experience siya sa screen because iyon ang pinanggalingan ng pelikula,” said Fajardo in cracked voice.
The Scorpio Nights 3 director also felt that he needed to show the iconic movie to the public for the sake of the fallen filmmaker.
“So kailangan talaga na gawin ito. My respect to my mentor, my teacher, and my ninong.”
In 2020, Gallaga passed away due to pneumonia. His last project was in 2014, when he directed the movie T’yanak 2014.
The former filmmaker was best known for the classic film Oro, Plata, Mata. He also won three awards during the 1996 Metro Manila Film Festival for his work on Magic Temple.
Scorpio Nights 3 is the fifth project of Fajardo under Vivamax. It stars Christine Bermas, Mark Anthony Fernandez, and award-winning indie actor Gold Aceron. The original film was led by Albert Martinez and Joyce Jimenez.
The movie is available on Vivamax beginning July 29.
