On June 5, Kapuso celebrity Chef Jose Sarasola considered himself lucky to be the first GMA-National Collegiate Athletic Association Basketball Game Celebrity MVP.
During an after-game interview with Sarasola, he recounted how he landed the basketball shots thanks to his teammates and a little luck.
“First off, super nice na I didn’t play basketball for a long time na din, pero lucky today na I guess it’s one of those days na pag hawak mo na ‘yung bola kailangan mo lang itira.Â
“And you know, my teammates are finding me, and open spot, so kaysa ma-turn over pa, maipasa sa iba, I just took the shots, and lucky naman na pumapasok.”
He then detailed what went down on the court while expressing gratitude for playing with NCAA players and Kapuso stars.
“And ‘yun nga, just beyond the court and the NCAA players medyo ibang level ‘yun eh. Kasi, I play usually ‘yung mga celebrity basketball or traditional ballers pero being with NCAA players ay ibang level.Â
“So ‘yung first quarter medyo hingal na hingal na ako kasi ang intense ng movements, ‘yung mga galawan. But as the game went on, medyo nakuha ko na ‘yung hangin ko and ‘yun luckily ‘yung mga shots ko pumapasok. Just glad to be on the court with NCAA players and siyempre fellow Kapuso stars ko.”
He also described the experience of winning the celebrity MVP title as a memorable moment for him as a Kapuso.
“Probably more of the winning, kasi I was saying nga kanina, whether we win or we/ lose, it’s for the finals din. It’s just a momentous time na nagkaroon ng All-Star Game ‘yung GMA and it’s first time nga, so winning an MVP award for me is bonus na lang ‘yun sa akin eh.Â
“Sobrang saya din na first NCAA All-Star Game and ganon ‘yun nangyari din and first MVP nga so its going to be memorable for me.”
Sarasola also noted that he dedicates his MVP win to his fans and the whole GMA Network.
“Wala eh, single tayo ngayon eh, so to the fans and the whole GMA Network. It’s really/ fun to be part of this event. And winning an MVP– super saya ko.”
The brightest Kapuso stars and the NCAA cagers from different universities and colleges played ball during the GMA NCAA All-Star Basketball Game on Sunday, June 5.
Each team, evenly divided between Heroes and Saints, including a mix of celebrities and NCAA players, played together and showed their skills on the hardcourt at the FilOil Flying V Center.
