RS Francisco, along with Atty. Mary Melanie ‘Honey’ Quiño on Monday, August 8, and Atty. Aldwin Alegre declared that the newest streaming app, AQ Prime, will not be filled with only matured content but also educational films.
Currently, the streaming app showcases its original BL films like La Traidora, Bingwit, Taong Grasa, Upuan, Sosyal Medya, Cuatro, Anatomiya, Adonis X, Mang Kanor, Amazona, Baka Sakali, Pura Serbidora, and Love or Lie at First Sight.
“Most definitely, AQ Prime will not be for mature audiences; it’s for child patronage. Kasi that’s where we show educational films. We are partnering with DENR para i-feature all the protective places,” said Francisco during the app’s media launch. “Marami kaming concepts. We have a creative pool of writers that are doing shows for that, for ages 0, bata, hanggang 99, or a hundred.”
Furthermore, the adult films will be separated as AQ has another app called “Director’s Cut.” It is password-protected, ensuring that younger audiences will not be able to access unsuitable content.
“That’s why Director’s Cut, 18 and above, ‘yun ang ano—we’re making sure na Director’s Cut will be a very bold, figuratively and literally, a very—lahat ng films na risky, doon ipapalabas,” he added.
AQ Entertainment will soon be producing films specifically for theatrical release. In the past, they already made the Metro Manila Film (MMFF) entry Nelia, which was under the direction of Lester Dimaranan.
“We are not only going to produce movies for streaming but as well as…for example, if there is an opportunity for parang an MMFF film, go iyan.
“The point is, mayroong mga opportunity for theatrical, AQ is also open for that,” said Atty. Alegre.
Francisco added that they will be ” in charge of special projects and movies” intended for “theatrical runs and bringing it to film festivals all over the world.”
AQ Prime is available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The subscription is priced at P99/month.
