Kapuso actress Kylie Padilla supported Kapamilya star Jane De Leon in her portrayal as the iconic superheroine Darna in the ABS-CBN series Darna, Monday, August 15.
Her statement came after a netizen’s tweet caught her attention. He shared his sentiments about De Leon feeling pressured by the audience’s high expectations about her series.
The netizen also pointed out that Padilla shared a similar feeling when she was included in the cast to play the role of Amihan in the Encantadia remake in 2016.
“Remember when most of [the] people doubt Kylie Padilla remaking Amihan in Enca then ended up she actually justified it. Probably that’s how Jane will be in the run of [the] series. Bigyan lang natin ng chance,” said the netizen.

The Kapuso actress responded that she is excited about De Leon’s show airing, especially with former Kapuso star Iza Calzado who previously played Amihan.

“I’m excited for her and the whole team. The [original] Amihan, Ms. Iza [Calzado] is also cast playing the original Darna. So many things to be excited about. Lalong lalo na it’s a show portraying strong women using their strength to help others,” wrote Padilla.
She added, “Amazing premise. Good luck!”
De Leon’s Darna began airing on August 15, replacing the recently-concluded FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Padilla’s Bolera, on the other hand, will end on August 26.
