On Monday, August 8, Atty. Aldwin Alegre, Atty. Honey Quiño and RS Francisco, AQ Prime’s bosses, clarified that the newest streaming platform would not compete against other streaming platforms such as Vivamax.
They see their rivals as “allies,” stressed Atty. Quiño during the app’s media launch.
“Actually, hindi namin tinitignan ang Vivamax, other online streaming platforms as competitors. For us, actually, ano sila eh, kakampi natin sila sa paggawa ng pelikula, pagbibigay ng mga trabaho. Magkakasangga kami. Iisa lang ang purpose namin eh [which is] to provide jobs, patayin ang piracy. Doon kami talaga magkakakampi, so hindi kami magkaka-kumpitensya.”
Atty. Alegre even pointed out that AQ Prime will be focusing more on achieving its goals and capturing its intended target market instead of going toe-to-toe with its competitors.
“Sa amin naman, we have long-term plans and goals. Kasama diyan ang mga live interactive streaming, kasama ang mga live hosting, live events, live concerts, sports events. So I think many platforms, many choices na p’wedeng gawin ang AQ Prime na maaaring dito lang makita dito sa AQ Prime. We’re just here to achieve the goal, and capture our specific target market, and execute whatever strategies we have later on.”
The streaming platform is also open to collaborations with other companies, said Francisco. He pointed out that the Covid-19 pandemic gave birth to more partnerships in terms of producing films.
“We are very very open naman. You know, in this day and age, it’s all about collaboration. So kami, we are open to collaborating with anyone, with any film na gustong mag-collaborate with us, just like how Frontrow collaborated with AQ.”
He also does not see it as a competition. With AQ Prime’s goal in mind, Francisco explained that ” it’s mostly talagang giving way to all the artists and all the ones passionate about their craft,” giving their artists the freedom to work with other production firms as well.
The streaming app also offers mature content. However, Atty. Quiño assured that only those who are 18 and above could access their sexy films. AQ Prime has a separate app called “Director’s Cut” which is password-protected, preventing unnecessary logins.
To further ensure that the younger audience will not be able to view their mature content, subscribers are required to submit a valid ID upon registration.
“From the start pa lang kasi ng AQ, mayroon talaga kaming plan na ihiwalay talaga ang mga sexy movies that’s why we have Director’s Cut,” she stated.
