As FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano announced its upcoming finale, netizens believe that Lolong caused the longest-running Kapamilya series to end, but Ruru Madrid disagreed.
Since Lolong premiered on GMA Telebabad on July 4, it has remained in the #2 spot on the rating chart and established the best primetime lineup of GMA Network amidst the pandemic alongside 24 Oras and Bolera.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano penetrated the Top 3 only twice eversince Lolong aired on free TV.
Recently, the Kapamilya series announced that it would end an era as it is down to its last three weeks of airing.
With this, netizens alleged that it was Lolong that caused FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, however, Lolong star Madrid disagreed with this idea.
According to Madrid’s message sent via PEP.PH, Lolong cannot be compared to FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano because their show has just started.
“To be honest, I wouldn’t say na ang Lolong po ang nagpatumba sa Ang Probinsyano dahil kakasimula pa lamang po namin at sila po ay umere ng 7 years kung saan tinutukan at sinubaybayan din po sila ng sambayanang Pilipino.”
He also cited that he already has a lot of projects that faced FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano in the past.
Madrid said he highly respects FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s star Coco Martin and the show’s entire production.
In the end, all of them in the entertainment industry want nothing but to provide happiness to the viewers.

Daks is the nickname of the crocodile named Dakila, Lolong’s companion in the series. “Daks” is the slang term Filipinos use to describe something big.
