On July 18, seasoned stars Ruffa Gutierrez and Cesar Montano shared their discoveries about Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and Imelda Marcos.
During the grand media launch for Maid in Malacañang, Montano an invite extended by Francis Gomez, said he got a different perspective about the Marcoses when he was younger.
“When the script happened, I was in college already. I had a different idea that I got from the press. Iba ‘yung nakuha ko rin and we have a different script right now.
“So iba po itong– last 72 hours of Marcoses in Malacañang na nakuha kong idea. It was totally different.”
He then attested to the ’empirical evidence’ that shows the human side of the Marcos Family based on his research for his character in the movie.
“‘Yung sinasabi kong empirical evidence– the role I play, the President, sinabi niya na huwag sasaktan ‘yung mga kababayan natin and I saw that in my video, totoo, at ginawa po namin talaga dito ‘yun.
“Ayaw nga niyang mag suot ng damit pang giyera ‘yung anak niyang si Bongbong, talagang ayaw. So totoo talaga, talagang ayaw niya at wala talagang hawak na baril ‘yung PSG when they were there kasi ina-avoid niya kasi magkaroon ng violence from the side of the PSG or ‘yung mga security ng presidente.”
As for Gutierrez, she cited that former President Marcos Sr. was a romantic.
“My discovery is not about Madam Imelda Marcos, she has a beautiful heart, very sincere, mapagmahal, mahal niya ‘yung pamilya niya, mahal niya ‘yung bayan. But my discovery surprisingly was with Ferdinand Marcos Sr. He’s not only a strong man, a genius, but he’s very romantic/ as well.”
She then revealed that she saw the love letter written by Marcos Sr. to his wife, Imelda Marcos.
As for their movie, Maid in Malacañang stars Cesar Montano, Ruffa Guttierez, Cristine Reyes, Diego Loyzaga, Ella Cruz, Karla Estrada, Elizabeth Oropesa, Beverly Salviejo, Kiko Estrada, and Kyle Velino. The movie directed by Darryl Yap premieres on August 3.
