The Kapuso hunk actor returns to his turf on primetime with his first lead-starrer in four years.
Ruru or José Ezekiel Misa Madrid has a very cliche entrance to showbiz.
It wasn’t easy, that’s for sure, but it certainly was a mainstream path. That path takes a new course this year via what could be the most ambitious and probably most challenging role to date — a new primetime superhero.
The 24-year-old Kapuso heartthrob, known today as the Kapuso action-drama prince, is no stranger to challenging and imposing roles.
He had, in fact, played a couple of lead roles on primetime via the biggest and most remarkable being, Ybarro in the 2016 incarnation of the Kapuso telefantasya, Encantadia, Andres Silang in the action-drama, Alyas Robinhood; and of course his 2018 title lead-starrer, Sherlock Jr.
From his humble beginning as an aspiring actor in the artista search, Protégé, Madrid has pretty much navigated his career through an impressive momentum.
Aside from starring in his own dramas, he also appeared in several big screen features, including the epic biopic film, Felix Manalo (2015). At 16, he was already a German Youth Achievement awardee and a recipient of the PMPC Star Awards’ Best New Male Personality trophy, a screaming testament to the sparkle that industry starbuilders saw in him.
One can say they all guessed it right, as Madrid, after a decade in showbiz, rightfully claimed his place in show business; and in GMA Network, he is undoubtedly a royalty.
This year, Madrid rises again as he is poised to get even higher from the surface. A new hero in prime time emerges, as his new Kapuso drama, Lolong, sees him taking on yet another action hero role.
Back then, having done similar challenges–the talented Kapuso star is poised to ace Lolong. The bigger excitement that has been gathering for the so-called ‘adventure-serye’ is likely to demand new facets of his artistry, ones that should only affirm how talented of an actor he is.
As he makes his mighty primetime comeback, Ruru Madrid projects a remarkable confidence. A great amount of attention is focused to his highly-anticipated series. The latest trailer for the series has been raving great reviews; the hype for it feels on a different level.
Coinciding his 10th year in show business, Lolong can be considered by Madrid as both GMA Network’s gift to him and his gift to his fans. In an interview, he expressed how much the project means to him. “This is my 10th year in showbiz at ito ang project na ibinigay sa akin. I’m just very lucky at ganito kaganda ‘yung materyal namin, ganito kaganda ‘yung cast. I learned so much from the show,” he said.
Lolong is a GMA Public Affairs production, which produced some of the well-loved Kapuso series, including The Lost Recipe, Ilustrado, and Alamat. That means viewers can count on the new adventure series having the same flair and design as its predecessors. Viewers are convinced that Lolong will even sport an unfamiliar greatness, which only fits on the royalty that Ruru Madris is.
