Seasoned comedienne Marietta Subong, a.k.a. Pokwang and seasoned singer-actress Agot Isidro, on July 4, shared their reactions on Ella Cruz’s ‘History is chismis’ statement.
Through their respective Twitter accounts, Pokwang and Isidro tweeted about Cruz’s statement following her interview with The Philippine Star on July 2.
Pokwang wrote that she accepted and respected Cruz’s political beliefs. However, she disagreed with the young artist’s view about history.

Isidro then attested how sweet Cruz is in person while advising her to answer No Comment in future interviews with similar questions.
“Ella, I love you and you’re the sweetest. (serious ako. she really is.) Next time, puede tayong sumagot ng, “No comment.” Again, mahal kita.”
Pokwang worked with Cruz in the 2012 fantasy series Aryana, while Isidro worked with the Viva artist in the 2014 teleserye Bagito.
Earlier, netizens criticized Cruz’s statements, comparing history to gossip.
“History is like tsismis (gossip). It is filtered and dagdag na rin, so hindi natin alam what is the real history. Andoon na iyong idea, pero may mga bias talaga. As long as we’re here alive at may kanya-kanyang opinion, I respect everyone’s opinion.”
Cruz stars as Irene Marcos, the youngest daughter of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and Imelda Marcos, in the upcoming Viva Films movie, Maid in Malacañang alongside Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Cristine Reyes, Deigo Loyzaga, Karla Estrada, Beverly Salviejo, and Elizabeth Oropesa.
Maid in Malacañang, directed by Darryl Yap, premieres in theaters on July 20.
